Did you know that Evo Terra is a thoughtful, reasoned individual? You may know him from Evo at 11, funanymore.com, or Wingin’ It. You may know him as a wild and crazy speaker to Realtor’s Associations… okay, maybe not that one. This is the first half of my interview with Evo at Balticon 43 as we discuss the concept of “living the change we want to see” and how we can get there.

Enjoy my attempt at a faux-mercial at the end.

Today we take out feedback from Justin and spin it into a whole show. We talk about Chicobag and how we shouldsend a message to Troy about advertising on Whole Lot of Nonsense.

This show’s music comes from the PodSafe Music Network. It’s from Changes from Green Lizard.

Today we get into some new methods of water conservation. Thanks to Casey McKinnon of Galacticast and caseymckinnon.com shared a video from thinkwater.ca (A UNICEF organization). Let’s get into it. Oh, hey. Stick around for the newest promo from the genius Mur Lafferty who’s bringing you the Free PodCast, Playing for Keeps.

This show’s music comes from the PodSafe Music Network. It’s from the skin of my yellow country teeth from clap your hands say yeah.

So, I had my auction up and running. It broke what I was looking for to cover the cost of my refurb… and I was ecstatic. As the auction neared the end, it even broke more than I thought it would. Then it got sniped at the end. Hey, I’ve sniped an auction or two. It’s part of the fun. All in all, a great auction. Then I got address of the winner, trundled down to the post office, got the shipping rates, and started to firm up the final points with the auction winner. Then he poses a question. “Is this phone unlocked?” Hmmm… Let’s see, the auction title is “Palm Treo 650 Cingular AT&T Cell Phone,PDA, PLUS EXTRAS”, the big bold bullet point is “Palm Treo 650 for AT&T Cingular Cell Phone”. I jot a quick note back, that the listing was for “as is” and that the phone’s not unlocked… as it’s stated in the title and entry. “Oh, well then I’m not buying it. If you want to unlock it, then I’ll buy it.”

WTF?!

I give him another chance to rescind that statement. Nope. He restates that he’s made an offer.

This being said, I make second offers to my other three bidders who were there at the end. They don’t get back to me, so I can only assume that they’re already covered when it comes to getting what they want.

So, I’ve got to relist the phone.

I figured I’d use the advice from my TwitterPeep Kreg Steppe from ChuckChat and Friends in Tech, again, and post my fundraising attempt here.

So, I upgraded my Palm Treo 650, which I bought used, by buying a refurbed Treo 680. Not bad. I’m loving the new connection speed with my upgraded SIM card and the 680.

That being said, I’ve got a spare Treo 650 for sale on eBay. So, if you’d like to buy a nice condition Treo 650 , stop on by to eBay and bid away.

Thanks.

If you get a chance, swing on over and DIGG Daily Nonsense. I’m not entirely sure why the feed’s not entirely synched, but if I can get a couple more not-me DIGGs, then I can probably have a better leg to stand on for asking for some help.

Check out my Daily PodCast for the month of November, and listen to Show 8 where I talk some about this topic.

I’m a geek… yeah, who would’ve figured that what with my being involved in NaPodPoMo?… but a laptop for every child? I heard an interview on CBC’s Search Engine with one of the key designers on the project, and had some thoughts and questions.

Is this inherently a good idea? For kids who can’t afford food, healthcare, housing, are unemployed or at risk of being killed, raped or put to work as a child soldier… is a laptop the solution to their problems?

I think education is a great idea. I think child-led education is great. What do y’all think about the laptop for every child program?

If you really want to help with this program, be aware that you can participate in the “Get 1, Give 1″ program through their site XO Giving. The purchase program opens November 12, and you can own one of these laptops for 400 USD. The idea is you buy a 200 USD laptop for yourself and one for a child who needs one.

DAILY Nonsense?

First whenever, but mostly every two weeks… then weekly… now DAILY?

Yup

You see, authors engage in an annual ritual called National Novel Writing Month, and commit to writing every day for a month. Many use this as a way to kick start ideas or find out if they’re really cut out for the whole authoring gig.

Jennifer of the Morning Brewcast (a PodCast about coffee that’s on my list) decided that she wanted to start a similar concept for PodCasters called National PodCast Post Month (NaPodPoMo)… and yes, there’s already one for VidCasters and Bloggers, so we’re potentially late to the game.

Rather than subject you to hearing this experiment in my feed for Little Bit/Whole Lot of Nonsense, I’m creating a new feed just for this experiment. You all know the deal, right click on that link and paste it into your favourite PodCatcher, or use this link for a one-click subscription to iTunes.

Join me and give me some feedback on how this experiment is going.

Show Notes: Still laughable, but here nonetheless.
